Skincare is all the rage nowadays and with all the trends on Social media, we are all skeptical about what is real and what is fake. You’ll be tantalized when you see your idols with porcelain and glowing skin that you would usually think that the standard of beauty that they’re in is on another level. But what if we tell you that getting Glass skin is not unattainable? We’re breaking down all the best tips to get that luminous glass-like skin. Let’s get started!

How to get glass skin: A step-by-step guide.

The glass skin routine is basically a step-by-step guide to achieving flawless, dewy, and practically spotless glass-like skin. Before going through this article you have to be prepared to follow your regimen religiously. Setting aside a time of day to really focus on your self-care is important in maintaining this regimen and keeping note that you’re doing this for you.

1. EXFOLIATE: Purge your Skin

Exfoliation is definitely the foundation of the glass skin routine. Nothing greater than working on a blank canvas as some may say. Exfoliation is the process of sloughing off dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. This makes sure that the products you’re using really penetrate your skin.

Exfoliation can be done mechanically (scrubs, brushes) or chemically. This part of your regimen doesn’t necessarily have to be done daily. You may do this at least twice a week and really focus on those problem areas. Make sure to top it off with a moisturizing sheet mask to let your skin rest from the heavy purging.

2. Cleanse

Using make-up can have effects on your skin. Use an oil-based cleanser to remove all the makeup, dirt, or any other impurities from your face. Using oils eliminates any impurities without drying out your skin. Afterwards, you need to use a Foam Cleanser. This step helps to deeply purify your skin and also create a clean canvas to start with ensuring that all the essential products will be absorbed by your skin. Use lukewarm water to really open up those pores and let your cleanser remove all the deep-seated dirt.

3. Toner

This step is usually what most of us take for granted. All the while cleansing usually opens up your pores and leaves them open if you do not follow it up with a toner. Using a Toner closes your pores, softens your skin, restores its pH balance and plumps it up. This prevents your pores from getting clogged which further prevents acne and tightens skin. Do not rub or pull the toner, lightly dab it in your skin and allow it to get absorbed.

4. Use Serums

Choosing your serums can be a make-or-break situation for every other step that you’ve already worked for in this routine. Serums target your skin at different levels. They nourish the skin, boost collagen as well as address other existing skin issues such as aging, uneven skin tone, and pigmentation. Tapping your serum onto the high points of the face to help your skin shine.

5. Let it sink and Seal it all in

Give your skin time to absorb all the nutrients at its own pace. Once you feel that they’re all set. Massage your face to give your products extra pressure to be absorbed. This also stimulates the blood flow on your face and helps your skin create more collagen as well.

6. Use Sheet Masks

With this being the top tier step to the Korean Glass skin Journey. There is a lot that you can choose from. Pamper your skin and leave it smooth, glowing, and hydrated. Sheet masks hold components that create a seal on your skin that prevents the moisture and vitamins from escaping. In that way, this allows your serums to get absorbed into the deeper layer of skin and leave your skin feeling refreshed.

7. Focus on your eyes

You can’t really rock glass skin if you have dark circles, puffiness, and bags under your eyes. Using a concealer and some light eyeshadow magic can do the trick to make your eyes pop and look refreshed. Besides hiding them, investing in sleep is actually a must. And yes keeping with the 8-10 rule might be harder than it sounds because you’ll probably have your only Me Time at night. The less sleep you get the more your body starts producing excess cortisol and it loses its ability to retain water. This is what leads to dehydrated skin where your skin lacks moisture in the absence of which your skin starts to turn flaky and dry.

But we can’t have it all so you might want to invest in a good eye cream. It’ll help tame wrinkles, dark circles, and fine lines we face in later years. Dab a small amount of eye cream on your palm and pat in around the eyes.

8. Moisturize

Healthy skin is hydrated skin. Creating a good moisture barrier will keep your skin supple and hydrated. Moisturizer effectively locks in all the moisture in your skin, replenishes your skin’s hydration levels, and gives you a radiant glow. Get an ample amount on your palm and gently massage your face to enhance blood circulation.

9. Sunscreen

Protect everything that you’ve worked for. All of these steps can leave your skin bare and susceptible to damage. Wear sunscreen with an adequate amount of SPF. Sun protection is just as important as any other step in your skincare routine because it’s your first line of defense against damaging UVA and UVB rays that are the cause of the early signs of aging such as fine lines, dark spots, and wrinkles. Remember to wear sunscreen before you go out and reapply as often as you can.

While achieving glass skin cannot be obtained overnight and some may look at it as too much work. Good skin starts with practice. Better skin requires a habit. And Great skin is a Religion. With all that being said, caring for yourself more will make your skin thank you in the long run. Stick to what products work for you, analyze the problems you have to address.

Glass skin may one day pass its own hype, but healthy, youthful skin is always on-trend.
